Account and Data Deletion

Overview
At Baker App, we respect your right to control your personal data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, either directly through the mobile app or by contacting us.
This page explains how to delete your account, what data will be deleted, and what happens after deletion.
How to Delete Your Account
Option 1: Delete Through the Mobile App (Recommended)
You can delete your account directly in the Baker App:
- Open the Baker App on your device
- Navigate to the "More" tab (bottom right)
- Tap "Settings"
- Scroll down and tap "Delete Account"
- Read the warning message carefully
- Confirm your decision to delete
- Enter your password (or authenticate with biometrics) to verify
- Tap "Delete My Account Permanently"
Your account will be scheduled for deletion immediately and the process will complete within 30 days.
Option 2: Request Deletion via Email
If you cannot access the app or prefer to request deletion by email:
- Send an email to privacy@baking-app.com
- Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
- Include:
- The email address associated with your account
- Confirmation that you want to permanently delete your account
- Any additional information to help us verify your identity
- We will respond within 5 business days to confirm receipt
- We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request
- Once verified, we will delete your account within 30 days
What Data Will Be Deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently delete:

All your data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Please export any recipes you want to keep before deleting your account.
Account Information:
- Email address
- Display name
- Password and authentication credentials
- Account settings and preferences
User Content:
- All recipes (including all versions)
- All timers
- All custom ingredients
- Recipe tags and organization data
- Any notes or descriptions
Usage Data:
- App usage history
- Feature interaction data
- Device associations
Subscription Data:
- Subscription status and preferences
- Your active subscription will be cancelled
- No refunds will be issued for the remaining subscription period
What Data May Be Retained
Some data may be retained for limited periods as required by law or legitimate business purposes:
Financial Records (7 years):
- Transaction records and invoices (required for tax purposes)
- Payment history (stored by Paddle, our Merchant of Record and payment processor)
- This data is anonymized where possible and not linked to your deleted account
Aggregated Analytics (24 months maximum):
- Anonymized usage statistics that cannot identify you personally
- Aggregated data used for product improvement
- This data is not linked to your identity after account deletion
Legal Compliance:
- Data required to comply with legal obligations
- Data related to ongoing legal proceedings or investigations
- Records required to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
Security and Fraud Prevention:
- Certain security logs may be retained to prevent fraud and abuse
- IP addresses used for illegal activities (retained for security purposes)
Timeline for Deletion
Deletion Timeline:
- Immediate: Your account is deactivated and you cannot sign in
- Within 24 hours: Your recipes and content are removed from active servers
- Within 7 days: Your data is removed from backup systems
- Within 30 days: All your personal data is permanently deleted
Effect on Subscriptions
If you have an active paid subscription when you delete your account:
- Your subscription will be immediately cancelled
- You will lose access to paid features immediately
- No refunds will be issued for the remaining subscription period
- Any scheduled renewals will be cancelled
If you want to keep your subscription until the end of the billing period, we recommend cancelling your subscription first (which lets you keep access until the period ends) and then deleting your account after the subscription expires.
Before You Delete
Before deleting your account, consider:

- Export your recipes: Take screenshots or manually copy any recipes you want to keep
- Cancel subscription first: Cancel your paid subscription and wait until the period ends to avoid losing paid time
- Check all devices: You will be signed out of all devices
- No recovery: Deleted accounts cannot be recovered. This is permanent.
Alternatives to account deletion:
- Take a break: Just don't use the app - your data will remain safe
- Downgrade: If you're concerned about cost, cancel your paid subscription and use the free tier
- Delete recipes individually: Delete specific recipes instead of your entire account
After Deletion
Once your account is deleted:
- You will receive a confirmation email
- You will be signed out of all devices
- You can create a new account with the same email address if you wish
- Your old recipes and data will not be recovered
- You will start fresh with a new account (subject to free tier limits)
Third-Party Services
Baker App uses several third-party services. When you delete your account:
- Clerk (Authentication): Your account is removed from Clerk's systems
- Convex (Database): All your data is deleted from our database
- Paddle (Payments): Your customer record may be retained for legal/accounting purposes (anonymized where possible)
- PostHog (Analytics): Historical anonymized analytics data may be retained per our analytics policy
- Sentry (Error Tracking): Error logs containing your user ID are automatically deleted after 90 days

We aim to respond to all data deletion requests within 5 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.
